About Selma

I'm Selma, chef and founder of Selma Cooks. My approach to food is to bridge the gap between community, sustainability, art and diversity. My journey has been influenced by multiple cultures and worldwide flavors, which all blend together in my creations.

My story

I grew up between Spain and Morocco, surrounded by fragrant spices, noisy streets and vibrant kitchens. As far as I can remember, I have always been curious about culture, art, communities and expressive variations. My journey with food began early and grew further as I traveled and met different cultures, leading me to discover incredible combinations of flavors and textures. My cooking is inspired by encounters, the beauty of nature and the power of the present moment.

I believe that gathering around the table is one of the most powerful ways to connect and bridge the gap  between cultures.

How Selma Cooks started

Selma Cooks began with a vision to blend food, art and community into an experience without boundaries.I wanted to create a space where food becomes a canvas for artistic expression, cultural celebration, and human connection. Selma Cooks merges visuals, Norwegian and international flavors and traditions, fostering a sense of unity and celebrating the beauty of our shared experiences.

The Philosophy

I believe in cooking with intention, joy, and just the right amount of funk - using real ingredients, honoring diverse cultures, and never rushing the magic. I believe that kitchens are an open space for warmth, curiosity, and connection. Beyond the cooking is a storytelling.
